Summer 2014 - Life and Death

Summer has been back for some time now and its getting hotter and hotter every day.
On one side I'm getting all those new growth and on the other side its getting so hot that some plants are getting leaf burns or dehydrated or both at the same time.

Indian Beech / Pongame [ Pongamia pinnata ]
This little guy was grown from seed I found on the beach. I'm taking some rather extreme actions on this one to create the nebari.

Aubepine [ Pretty unsure if its a real aubepine or not but the nurseries call it that here ]

Bilimbi Rond [ Phyllanthus acidus ]
That's the little guy from this post here. Because of the recent repot, I'm not planning on any pruning on this one yet, but I'm glad its growing so much growth.

Playing possum or really dead?

While some are growing and throwing new growth, others seems to have been hit pretty badly by the sun.
For now I've moved them in a shadowed area and back to the usual watering pattern.
DO NOT FEED WHEN YOUR PLANTS GET SUN BURNED OR WILTERED - JUST WATER THEM AND DON'T PLACE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT!

Cuphea
Those little guys are heavy drinkers and got in this state while I was away for 2 days O_o. I shudder when I read some online guides telling beginners to water ONCE A WEEK! Those little guys are alive and need their DAILY water dosage.

My little pomegrenade from seed
Pretty sad about it :(
It got pretty far ahead in terms of training and I'm still crossing my fingers on it.
I've seen several buds that had started to swell so I hope I will make it.

My literati privet
I've been taking my time on this one, training it the hard way in a small pot, painfully slow and this sight was really a blow.
Privets are tought lil bast*rds though and I'm keeping this one in the shades and see if it can make it back.

  1. The bubble wrap around the WP pot reduced water evaporation! Glad to see he made it
